Jan 26th & 27th adventures

Aloha,
Oh BOY, the snow has found its way to P.C. and we are sooo excited!! A whole new attitude with the dogs and me, I'm sure with all of you as well. Thursdays hikes to Pinebrook and Masonic trails were stormy and a little wet, not the best for photos so I did not take many. We ran hard in the heavy snow though and everybody was beat, especially me.
Friday was a different story, blue bird day with 5 new inches of fluffy pow pow, making fresh tracks all day. I ripped it up with my home boys at D.V. in the am, and it was awesome!! First freshy's for me this year and they felt oh so good!! Ikar, Ivan, Roxy and me skinny skied in Summit Park where we had more fresh tracks. With the new snow, the squirrels were out in force and they were messing with Roxy big time. As you can see, she got pretty close to one but they are so fast and agile, Roxy had no chance of catching this little guy. Fun trail to skinny ski on with mellow terrain and beautiful scenery.
Our last hike of the week put us on the Ontario by pass trail down into Daly with Dryfus and Roxy. We had more fresh tracks down the Daly Grind and the dogs were wishing they had skis, it was one hell of a workout for them while I was grinning the whole way. Welcome back old man winter!!

Jan 19th adventures to Empire Pass and Summit Park

Aloha,
Well well well...winter has decided to show up after all. It's been a weak effort but we are excited to get this show on the road and grateful it's finally here. let's keep on dancin' mi amigos! I would like to introduce Zoey, our newest member to the pack. She is a sweet, happy young pup, and got along very well with everyone on her first adventure. She is from Jackson Hole and her wonderful parents rescued her from a dumpsters life. We look forward to Zoey learning some of life's lessons from Schwaby Dogs and our action packed adventures.
Our second hike to summit park was somewhat challenging with these crazy snow conditions. We hiked the Short Stack and Road To Wos trails for a tough and scenic loop. All in all, a great day out with the dogs. Life is good.
Peace. Michael

jan 17th Pinebrook and Daly canyon adventures

Aloha Sun!!
What a gorgeous and sunny blue almost bird day, just the new snow was missing. It had to have dumped for it to be a total blue bird winter day. It is on its way my friends, so keep dancin' and pray for the white stuff! Pinebrook was pretty nice with some ice, glad I pulled out the crampons anyway. Daly Canyon was great as always. Can you see Reo on the roof? Crazy dog.
Life is good:)

Jan 16th Solamere loop

Aloha,
Our Second hike of the day on the Solamere loop was not quite as cold but a lot less snow and very icy with a dusting on top. Kinda sketchy and we had to be on our toes/paws most of the way. Still bob knarley cold!!
Peace.Schwaby

Jan 16th Colony adventure

Aloha,
It's Monday, one of my favorite days of the week. I like this day because all the dogs are fresh and raring to go and so am I. Today was especially cold with snow flurries and wind up in the Colony. I jumped on the skis today with Roxy, Reo and Dryfus and we had a cold but adventurous hike. We are struggling to find good places to go with snow, and this is a great spot with all snow and none of that brown yucky stuff. Lets get this winter started and get some fricken snow!!
Let it snow...S

Jan 12th in Eagle pointe Jan 13th Drop Out trails & King Road

Aloha Friday,
There are some awesome fun twisting trails across from the White Barn that we have recently discovered. They climb up to the radio towers and wind there selves every which way, one could get a little lost up there, but we eventually found our way, meanwhile having a great time, especially the dogs.
Another new trail for us this year is in the Jeremy ranch area. The trail head starts behind the Rasmussen business commons and weaves its way up to the Drop out trails and 24/7 trail. This is only open to hikers in the winter time because they are down hill courses with fun and exciting features to roll and jump over on your bike in the riding season. Dog friendly and wide open.
Our last hike of the week was up King road and through the woods of the infamous Johns trail which is covered in snow for the most part but easy hiking and a lot of fun.
This weeks training tip-working with your dogs is on going all the time when you are with them and not in sessions. Giving them direction and setting boundaries will make for a balanced and happy dog.
Peace. schwaby

Jan 12th adventures

Aloha,
It was a beautiful sunny day, one thing that has not been lacking this year. Round valley was very ridable, down to the dirt in many places. I really can't complain, this weather feels like fall. Could this be an Indian fall? Is there such a thing? Oh well, I know the snow will come, it always does, so meanwhile, get out those bikes my friends and enjoy some of the trails or the open road.
Daly on the other hand is mostly snow covered, a good thing, and is most enjoyable for hiking, especially because I can hike in my light hikers with less gear. Oh, the sun is nice too! Let us not lose faith in Mother Nature, the white stuff WILL fly.
Peace...Schwaby

Jan 9th adventures in Deercrest & Daly

Aloha,
There is still snow on many of the trails in PC, you just have to go a little higher and stay on the north east facing slopes. Meanwhile the sun has been fabulous, we all can be thankful for that.
Peace...Michael

Jan 6th hikes to Sweeney's & mayflower

Aloha Friday,
Its been a big week of adventures and I for one am ready for a relaxing weekend of family football and some honey does. The weather held out all week and the dogs were loving every minute in the great outdoors and so was I. With the limited skiing we were able to take advantage of some places that we only do pre and post season so we are not complaining....well, the mud still sucks but other than that it was pretty fantastic.
Cheers.
Schwaby

Can you see the Racer??
