July 20th Aloha Friday adventure in the High Uintas

Some puppy play time
Time for a bath everybody!
Oh Boy! The Uinta mountain....There is nothing quite like it in the Wasatch. I have missed this large piece of paradise, it was good to be back and breath in this amazing place. The North Fork trail is a beautiful loop and took us 2 hours with some sweet watering holes, Provo River being one of them, and monster trees and a few very large cows, not so sweet, poohing machines!! We had some fun off trail running through the woods, Cooper was going crazy with all the smells of wildlife and just the sheer joy of being in the deep woods. This place is always a treat to visit and worth the extra miles, 175 total miles for Schwab today. To finish the hike with a cool bath in the Might Provo, which is not really so mighty this year , yet still quite nice. Roxy needed a bath after rolling in the one of the many land mines left by the poohing machines. Oh Roxy girl.. If you have not been here, go go go, you will have a blast. Peace Schwaby

July 19 Daly & Rossi Hill adventures

cooling off
Rossi Hill Trail
Oh it's big all right!
Aloha, The heat was back for this thursdays adventures in Daly Canyon and Rossi Hill trail. We had not been on Rossi Hill for a long time and we loved it. A very narrow trail with tons of scrub oak flowers and some descent sized pine trees made for a fairly cool and comfortable hike. Did you check out this jump! Oh its only about a 20 footer...no big deal! Yeah right! Another really fun place to ride as well. There is still water in Daly so we always like to hit this one at least once a week and it's so dam cool and fun we just can't get enough of this place. Miss Olive joined us for the second hike, she's the goofy yellow lab that is laughing about it on the Rossi trail. Peace out. Schwaby

July 18th Empire Ridge Lady Morgan adventure

Aloha, Now this hike has become a classic with all of its spectacular views, wildlife and scenic trails, especially on the TG trails where the moose like to hang out. Some very cool connector trails have been added in the last couple of years making it even more fun. Great place for hiking on the top with fantastic biking and hiking on the lower section. The dogs are so excited up here and the energy is electric. Cooper (yellow lab) and Kula (Red Healer) joined us on this fun adventure and will be runnin" with the pack for a few days. They are awesome dogs and had a blast with their new friends!! This was another perfect summer day in PC. Peace...Michael

July 13th Shadow Lake

Aloha Friday the 13th, And a lucky day it was indeed. My friend Craig joined us for the Dead Tree descent before he had to hike back up to the Guardsmans road. It was a pleasure to have him. Zoey is back in the hood and it was nice to have her back in the pack from Jackson Hole. This hike is a classic folks, a must do and easily accessible from the Guard road. Just down from the saddle of Brighton where Scotts trail starts for the crest ride you can park off the side of the road. Hike up the gated utility road that leads to Jupiter peak and drop down the Dead Tree trail that is marked by a fire pit. The descent it awesome and the prize is a well worth the effort! Shadow lake is really cool and if your lucky, a moose might cross your path. After a refreshing swim we hiked around the west side of the lake continuing to the east side, cleaning up the trail of stray rocks along the way. My friends and I love this descent and we call it the Tour de Bruceii. All you mountain bikers out there know what I'm talkin' about..... It ROCKS!! A 2 hour lolly pop loop at its finest. One can also go up the steep climb to the Puke hill intersection on up to Jupiter peak as an alternate route which is super cool as well, just a little bit longer, but well worth your time and effort. Get out and play!! Peace...Schwaby

July 12th Bonanza Flats/Brighton Estates

Aloha, The wild flowers are going off in the Bonanza flats area as you can see from the first photo of Miss Delila Bear posing with some pink Fireworks. What a cutie!! She was enjoying the flower fields so much we lost her for a few minutes- oh..D...Bear! Wandering through the neighborhood of Brighton Estates under cloud covered skies we enjoyed the quiet solitude of this peaceful place, I could live there. The skies rumbled and spit a few big drops just to tease us and keep us cool and smiling. Miss Olive joined us today along with Roxy,Delila Bear, Annie, Gracie, Brophy,Ty and our wild child, Tillman. He's a piece of work that one. The last few pics are of a really nice viewing rock just off the Guardsmans road at the first saddle. One can see clearly all of Heber and the 10420 peaks this side of Brighton. If you have not been to this killer spot, I highly recommend checking it out, you will not be disappointed and it's an easy, short hike if you park at the top of Empire ridge. There are many private roads so respect the owners privacy and enjoy. Life is good. Michael

July 11th Summit Park adventure

Aloha, Oh.... I am slacking on my blog duties people!! Just been super busy, no need for pity on me, just forgiveness, I know you all are busy as well. Summit park always seems to welcome us with cool weather, amazing views and many forest friends to listen to and admire. Our starting point on this day was on the upper terrace road where we hooked up on the road to WOS trail, on up the steep ascent of the side order trail to the old WOS station site where we chilled for a few minutes to rehydrate and catch the sweet views of the Wasatch mountains to the southwest. After a nice break, we checked out the snow hut on the west side of Side Order and back down to Short Stack, finishing on the Road to WOS trail. Summit park is still on our top 10 if not top 5 list of favorite adventure sites in PC of all time. It's high altitude fun at its finest!! Primo! My students for the day-Roxy, Dryfus, wild-n-crazy Shadow, Brophy, Ty and Tillman. Peace. Schwaby

July 10th afternoon swimming adventure

Aloha, Aaaaaah....Cooling off in one of my favorite places in the summer, Jordonelle Res. The east side of the lake is perfect for dogs with the 20 minute walk down the road to the water which was quite refreshing and back up the same way to air dry out the wet dogs. It's perfect and a whole lot of fun too. Life is good:) Schwaby

July 10th am Empire pass adventure

Aloha, We spotted these beautiful cranes on the Old Ranch Road and there were two couples looking to get over into Swaners preserve. Big birds!! The first hike of the day landed us in Empire Pass at the bottom of the Guardsman road up Tour de Suds for a fun and fast loop with Sasha, Josie, Roxy, Annie, Gracie Brophy, Ty and Tillman. Peace. Schwaby

July 9th adventure to Pinebrook

Aloha, The Pinebrook trails are always fun to run and play on especially in the woody parts such as Hunters Plaid to the Mid Mountain trail. It is so lush in this area and there is lots of nice shade and buff-o-rama trails. The Cows Parsnip in the last picture is HUGE! Look at these little flower puppies. Peace and flowers. Schwaby
