Aug 29th Daly Canyon adventure

Aloha friends,
Wasn't that a nice thunder storm Sunday night?! The trails were hero and so were the dogs. We started in the main part of Daly and hooked into Grave Digger, King road, onto Jons 99, Empire Link, and back down the Daly Mine route, making for a sweet lolly pop loop. The weather was partly cloudy, in the mid seventies, with damp trails, a few water spots and amazingly lush floura the whole way. What a summer!! My six pack was awesome, worked together and had a great time.
A calm confident pack leader makes for a calm and confident pack.

Aug 22nd & 23rd doggie adventures

Aloha,
It's hot hot hot these days, and kicking our buts out there. We are still able to find plenty of shade but the water is scarce so the dogs have been helping me pack water. Mondays hike was up Robs trail in Sunpeak with Max, Dryfus, Roxy, Brophy and Ty. We made it to the Ambush intersection (picture) before turning around. Man it was hot!!
Tuesdays adventure was a few degrees cooler with the increase in altitude on Jupiter Peak and cooling off in Shadow lake. Ahhh, dogs love to swim, especially in the heat. We could of stayed there forever, sooo nice! Todays 7 pack-Brophy, Ty, Moki, Roxy, Jasper, Annie and Gracie.
Hang in there mi amigos, fall is right around the corner and the kids are back to school.
Life is good:) Peace. Schwaby

Aug 19th Aloha Friday adventure on the Sweeney's/Johns 99 trails

Aloha Friday,
Well, it's been a fun filled week with all my terrific dogs who have had great attitudes in this heat wave. We hit all the shady spots and tried to find water as well, it's been drying up this past week, amazing that it has lasted so long. We carry a bunch of water in my pack and some of the dogs are sharing a pack to carry water leashes and treats. This is a very good training tool for them and each dog is proud to carry their share of the load. Gotta put them to work I say!!
You all have a nice weekend and I will see you next time. Live Strong. Mahalo!! Schwaby

Aug 18th adventure

Aloha,
Summit park is another one of our cool spots with shade and well groomed trails for easy hiking and biking. There is also very steep hiking for those who want a good workout and amazing views of the Wasatch. It is dog friendly and the folks are really cool as long as you respect the trails, picking up your poop and jumping off the trails for bikers. Life is good. Peace out. Schwaby

Aug 17th Schwaby Dogs Adventure

Aloha friends,
Some of our favorite terrain is on the ridges of Empire ridge and TG trails. There is still a large patch of snow and lots of shade to be had for these hot summer days. My Eight pack was rockin' and rollin' and having a great time. The trails are dusty in some spots but the conditions are still amazing for all activities, so get out there mi amigos and enjoy the last days of summer. Peace. Schwaby

Aug 15 & 16 adventures

Aloha,
Back from a fun trip down to Brian Head with good friends, biking, hiking and a bit of beer drinking at the Festival of flavors. I felt refreshed after having a couple days off and the dogs had refreshing energy as well. Mondays hike up Iron canyon was interesting with some serious bush whacking. My brilliant idea to take a short cut up to the new Mid Mt trail got us in to some seriously steep terrain that left a few marks on Schwaby's shins. We finally made it to our trail and lumbered our way back down the steep trail, I was beat down and happy to be done. Todays hike was a bit mellower in the Colony with my eight pack of great dogs, I was still pooped from yesterday. Keep on keepin' on!! Live Strong. Schwaby

Provo River

Aloha,
Swimming in the Middle Provo....We love it! Peace. Schwaby

Aug 9th & 10th adventures

Aloha,
Sorry friends, I have been a huge slacker with the blogs. Summer is sooo busy, you know how it is. Summit park was killer! The photo is taken on top of a favorite snowboard run in the winter time, and not a trail we usually do in the summer time.
Daly Canyon up to the Mid Mt trail was cool with one stream still running nicely, oh how the dogs love to soak their bods in the cold water, especially Brophy.
Life is good. Schwaby

Aug 5th Schwaby Dogs adventure

Aloha Friday,
Fabu week with my fantastic dogs!! Fun hikes, beautiful weather, with afternoon showers...Does it get any better?! Our end of the week adventure started with a jaunt on the Sweeney's swithbacks, a dash of PCMR, two shakes of Johns trail and a cup of King Road. Delicious!!
You all enjoy the weekend in the great ourdoors. Peace Schwaby

Aug 3rd and 4th adventures

Aloha,
Here the dogs are posing nicely in front of one of the many Daly Canyon mines. Most of you have probably been up to these land marks and if you have not I highly suggest that you check them out , very cool part of PC history and the trails are awesome!
The next two photos are in Morgan County on the Mormon Flats trail. There is water the whole way this year, something I have not seen in a long time, especially in August, crazy! The dogs were having a blast and always love it when there is h2o to play in, cool off and drink. As you can see, they are quite happy. Life is good:) Mahalo Peace Schwaby

Aug 1st and 2nd Summit Park and McKonkeys Adventures

Aloha,
How about that crazy storm on Monday folks?! We waited it out before climbing up the Summit Park trail and believe it or not it wasn't that bad...Just a few slippery spots on the steeper stuff and some soaked shrubbery that a little Gortex couldn't handle. The day turned out to be pleasant and we all were beat after our adventure. Today was absolutely perfect weather for playing on the PCMR ridges! We started on the back side of guardsman road and hiked up to McKonkeys Chair (first photo), up to the peak, and across West face of Jupiter Bowl. On the way back we jumped on Guardsman road for a minute before bush whacking through a beautifully lush side hill that the dogs loved. Awesome day and dogs!! Life is good. Mahalo Schwaby

July 28th and 29th adventures in Daly/Empire, Pinebrook

July 27th Mayflower adventure

Aloha,
This old western filming location behind Deer Valley is beautiful, with water the whole way up to the bottom of the Mayflower lift. There are mines and many old structures still partially intact. There are also signs of Mr and Mrs beaver, although we have never seen them.
Peace. Schwaby
