June 15th and 16th adventures

Aloha,
Very cool hike in Silver creek on Wednesday, a place we have not been in since last fall. There were nice ponds and streams for the dogs to swim in and fun trails to run on. We hiked higher than we have in the past and found some new places to go. Great energy with my 11 pack and all were good listeners for the most part.
Thursdays adventure started out on the Sweeney switch backs and went over to Daly Canyon trails which were in excellent shape for biking...Yeah!!! Things are looking up my friends and it is feeling more and more like summer. Big fun hike on this fabulous day and with an awesome 8 pack of bad ass dogs. Life is good. Peace Schwaby
Sorry folks, still having trouble downloading pics. I will post them asap.

Aloha,
Summit Park is now very hiker friendly with only a few snow patches on the trails including
Road to WOS which hovers around 8000 feet. It is a bit too muddy for biking, hopefully in a week or so of warm weather it will be nice. My Monday 8 pack was fresh and ready to RIP IT UP in the forest! We started on the Short Stack trail and hiked the Road to WOS loop and back down Short Ribs over to the horse shoe trail making for about a two and a half hour fun adventure. Brophy, Ty, Tillman and Gracie were racing around together most of the time like wild childs, while Dryfus Max and Annie were hanging with me, and Roxy was doing what she does, hunting off piste.
Beautiful day! Peace Schwaby

June 7th and 8th

Aloha,
I am having troubles with my blog with getting my images downloaded so I may have to send them to you all via email. Tuesdays hike was really nice in Sunpeak on Robs trail and Rosebuds Heaven. Just and FYI, the beginning of Robs is really really muddy right now but the rest is great. Rosebuds Heaven is in excellent condition besides a few downed trees. Awesome pack of dogs today!!
Wednesdays adventure was another gorgeous day in Mayflower off the exit of US 40 where some western films years ago were filmed, so there are many structures and mines to check out. We made it up to the Mayflower chairlift and had a swim in the holding pond where the first pic was taken. The Second pic was on the way up and you can see how much water is coming down right now, the trail is literally a series of streams. Working on patients is something we are constantly working on and you can do it at home. When leaving and entering the house and car you can direct your dogs to stop, sit and wait, increasing the amount of time as you go. This will get them to the calm submissive state that we ultimately want them in so they are focused on you, the pack leader.
Mahalo and Peace. Schwaby

June 6th Daly Canyon adventure

Aloha,
What a great day to be alive and running in the woods with dogs! Daly Canyon was full of life with a heavy flowing Poison Creek, green busting out everywhere, streams making their way down trails, and groovin' dogs happy to just be. We can learn a great deal from these amazing creatures who live life one day at a time, forgive and forget, live in the moment, and are always happy to see you. Daly is a special place for us and we never grow tired of playing in its beauty, always a new and fun adventure to be had in the forest of Old Town. Life is good:)
Mahalo to Mother Nature and Peace to all. Schwaby Sorry my friends, my photo is not loading due to an internal problem. I will try again tomorrow.

June 1st and 2nd adventures

Aloha,
Oh Joy, how we are diggin' these sunny days!! Wednesdays adventure on the lost Prospector/Gamble oaks trails was very nice with only a few mud holes on the northwest facing stuff which were easily avoided and all the dogs were listening quite well to "go around." There were a few riders on the trails so we practiced "off the trail" and everyone of them happily did so, I was so proud of them.
Today in the High Uintas on the Yellow Pine trail was quite a bit colder with the wind chill factor and higher elevation but still beautiful out. A portion of the trail was dry but there is still a great deal of snow in the hills and the rivers and streams were running BIG!!

We all stayed close so no one would be washed away. Running into these nice people at our turn around point where the snow was becoming more prevalent we decided to turn around and hiked back down with them and their dog Shirah. Can you see her? She is quite small, even smaller than Smalls. Energetic and fun 7 pack today and it felt AWESOME to be back in the Uintas!! Well my friends, three days in a row a fine weather, I think we are looking good. Peace. Schwaby

May 31st Sweeney's Switchbacks adventure

Aloha,
It's here....spring conditions finally!! The North and South Sweeney switchbacks are looking good and will be ridable in a few days with some more warm days. Hiking is great with only a few snow patches on the lower trails, up to John's 99 and the upper town loop which is northwest facing and may be a little while yet. Great 5 pack today with Roxy, Jasper Hendrix, Annie and Gracie!!
Our adventure began on the North Sweeney trail sporting the best conditions of our hike then up to South Sweeney's, on over to Grave Digger, down King Road back to Sweeney's where we met the chocolate lab in our last picture. After two good hours we were all well worked and feelin' good!
I am always using many words when working and playing with my pack along with calm assertive energy making for pleasant, relaxed and fun dogs. I love what I do! Peace Schwaby
